This is what we use and recommend using. The Oxbow food is the best and chinchillas stay healthy and great looking at all times! Kaytee wafer cut hay is always so fresh and easy to get out of the bag without making too much mess. using the recommended food and hay will keep your chins very happy and healthy and you will not have much of left overs to throw away as they will eat everything because it tastes good!
The blue cloud dust bath is the best out of all other brands and of course Oxbow has it available. We us the water bottle and metal guard set as it is very easy to clean and fill as well as chinchillas are not able to knock it around or chew. Same applies to the metal food dish.
We use the single and double critter nation cages because they do not require tools to assemble, very well made and do not rust, with a smaller wire spacing so that babies cannot squeeze out or get stuck and injured. The fleece liners specially designed for this cage save money on bedding. Just sweep then every other day and wash once a week. Single story cage is good enough for up to 3 chinchillas. You can also use a large concrete mixing tub if you prefer to use wood shavings bedding instead of the fleece liners. Advantage of using the deep pan is that there will be a lot less dust and dirt falling from the cage. You will need to modify it a bit though as it is slightly too wide. We cut about an inch from the left and right side of the tub. Then we reinforced the top edges with galvanized 1/4 inch metal garden cloth to make sure they don't chew the cut edges and corners. This will only need to be done on the left and right side of the tub where the edges were trimmed to fit to the cage.
The quiet cordless sweeper gets a lot of job done! We use it for floors as well as cages. Just remove the long handle (there is a button on the bottom right) and you can use it to sweep the fleece liners. It picks up everything, even hay while other hand held vacuums cleaners get stuck.

NEVER buy a plastic exercise wheel as they will chew through it very fast and may die from ingesting the plastic parts. We recommend Chin Spin pictured below, - a very high quality metal wheel that will last forever!
When we used to use the fleece liners we would put a small corner litter where they like to urinate. This helps to keep the liners stay clean longer and it reduces the urine odor. We cleaned and change the litter every other day when we swept the fleece liners. A bag of Aspen shavings lasts quite a while. However we now switched to the plastic tubs and wood shavings bedding to reduce the mess falling on the floor.
You will love the little hay rack! It is hung outside of the cage and keeps the hay away from the floor. It still gets there but not as much as if you would put it right on it. Chinchillas love to get out pieces of hay from it. It's a fun activity for them! Again, critter nation wire spacing is small so it works great. If you buy a different cage, everything might just fall out much easier and will make a mess.
